What are Kecks?

Kecks are sports underwear for guys. They are quick drying, anti-chafe, colourful and fun. They make a perfect gift for guys of all ages. Kecks are popular for all sports, from surfing to running, cricket, tennis, rugby – anything where you are active and need comfort.

In March 2020, we launched Kecks kids and Kecks bikinis, designed to be as sporty and versatile as the guys’ underwear. Kecks are designed and made in Cape Town, from imported fabric. The business operates online, at selected retailers around the country, and at markets in the Cape Town area.

The Origin of Kecks

We find that lots of people wonder where the idea for Kecks came from. Here is our story. Kecks were born in Cape Town when Tom, at 16, was looking for something to wear under his boardshorts. He didn’t like going commando, but hated having soggy pants after a swim. He needed something practical to wear under his wetsuit too.

So, what if you made some underwear from swimsuit material, designed to be comfortable and not ride up, and to dry quickly? The first step was to get a sample made and try them out. We gradually improved the design, added many more fabrics, and ended up with what you see today. Kecks has become a go to sports underwear brand, that is all about outdoors, adventure, sport, practicality and versatility.
